Mom Fail

Somebody call the t-ball police...I didn't take Rey to practice yesterday..Yes. I understand he is 4 years old and you gotta "start em young" but I dropped the ball. ( can you hear the sarcasm)
Anyway, yesterday was just not gonna happen. I had been gone from my Luke, who still nurses, all day. Yes, he had bottles but at 5pm he no longer wanted a bottle or food, he wanted me. I was trying to get dinner on the table, or at least halfway there before I took Rey to practice, so Luke had to settle for my MIL..which he was just not having anymore. I got Rey ready, and dinner halfway there, had a screaming headache (as usual) and was almost out the door, when I said to myself "self, Luke needs you, look at him, he wants you too, as does everything else that goes on in the house, yea, tball is 5 minutes away..but go to your baby..he misses you" So in the chaos of it all, I didn't go.
Oh well..good thing is, he is only 4, almost 5, and if he plays all through school, he's got about 13 more years to play.

Couponing

Hi guys! Hope all is well :) well last week, I started putting together my coupon binder to try and save some money at the grocery store. I had been saving up my coupons to be able to put my binder together. This is what started out like:

It was a mess. It took me most of the day to clip the coupons, and to categorize my binder. I made labels and put the coupons in baseball card holders. It looked pretty good for my first binder.

Anywhooo, I made a weekly menu, made my grocery list and headed out. And do you know what I saved??

Yea...10 stinkin dollars. Turns out that it's hard to find coupons for 'real' food. :/ I buy tons of produce, and not very much processed stuff, and its expensive. No matter how you try and go around it. I know I can definitely save on the household items like toilet paper, paper goods and cleaning products, so rather than get discouraged, I am going to just have to remember to use my coupons for that, and if I come across good coupons for 'real' food, I'm going to stock up.
Or maybe I should look for a couponing 101 class..or couponing for dummies..is there such a thing?

Happy Hump Day

I got the majority of little Rey's room painted today, but before I started it, we had to get some energy out at the park. We had a great time with Rey's cousins, despite my ongoing headache. They were just too cute :)

And of course my little one had a great time too:)

All that needs to be done is the flooring...which the husband is supposed to do this weekend, and the headboard that I am making for his bead.
Hope you guys had a great day!

Happy Friday!

Hi there..Just wanted to go over what I did accomplish this week, remember I had a few goals that I had set for myself? Well, I did get up before my kids every day this week, except Luke had me up at 5:30 am today, so, that doesn't count. He was definitely up before me. I still haven't done Rey's room, we are pulling up the carpet to put floors in, and so I never got to organize it, what would've been the point? And as far as Lukes room goes, all of Rey's things will be shoved in there, so he isn't moving in yet either. But, the house has  stayed clean, laundry is staying manageable, and breakfast has been ready.
I have also collected coupons and have started to put a coupon binder together. I have been putting that off because I watched too much extreme couponing shows and scared myself with it..But, I have just decided that I don't need to prepare myself for the apocalypse just yet..I just need to save where I can, and on things that I actually use..and not things like 50 bottles of Maalox.  I mean, who NEEDS that much Maalox?? Anywho, I'm just going to keep on trucking, my next project is to make a  meal plan that I can stick to, which will also help me to save some money on groceries..no more "blind shopping". Its a little different in my situation, as my husband is gone all week, and my teenage son works most evenings, so its just me and the little ones, and cooking a large meal (thats the only kind I know how to make)...every night is not necessary.
I just need to get creative. Any one out there have any suggestions?

So sad

My little Luke is weaning himself already :( he is 11 months old and loving the solids, and seeming happier with "bubbas" which is our word for bottle. He got very used to them when I went out of town for the weekend. I was greatful for that because I didn't want him to be too upset when I was gone, but now, not so much. After he eats his breakfast/lunch/dinner, we have a nursing session, and he was always satisfied and happy with that. Now, after our nursing session, (which only lasts about 10 minutes, as opposed to 20-30 like it used to be) he whines until I give him a bottle.
*sad sigh*
The only times that we have those long sessions now is first thing in the morning and at bedtime. I'm very proud of myself that I was able to nurse as long as I have. I'll continue to offer it until he just refuses.
Yes, I know that it is my fault, I shouldn't have left him. Feeling so guilty..

Monday Monday

Hi guys! I know it has been a while but things are always hectic around here, and I rarely get a minute to myself. I have been cleaning all day, and with a headache no less...ugh :(
There are several projects that need to be done around this house and I can't seem to get a handle on any of them. I have set a few goals for myself that  I think will help me accomplish more while I am at home. I'm not a goal setter at all...I usually get up and say to myself " self..today we are going to attempt to do A, B, and C..." and end up starting late, and starting at K, L, or M, and in no particular order. This system usually has me running around the house like a chicken with out a head! I end up pulling out my hair, and finishing nothing. Anyone else out there using this current system??? Anyone?? Well alright then..

My goals for this week are:
  • Wake up early! As in before and not with my children (this just needs to remain a permanent goal)
  • Be ready for my boys when they get up, showered at least, and breakfast started
  • Clean and organize little Rey's room...again
  • Start to get Luke's room move in ready. He's currently still sleeping in our room, (in his crib) and I really don't mind but I need to finish my room as well, and a crib isn't part of the decor

Yes, it is a short list, but I gotta start somewhere. Wish me luck!

I'm back!

It's been a while, I know....I finally got back from California and my traveling experience was AWFUL! Not gonna get into that, but we had a great time, no great pics, because our camera absoulutely sucks...but anywhoo...
I have figured out why I get nothing done around here...first it was Facebook, way back when it was new...now it's pinterest...damn. Not to mention I feel sooo incompetent as a mother/wife/ woman when I see all the fabulous DIY-ers and awesome stay at home moms with their great ideas and clever tips and tricks...and the home decor...ohhh the home decor...forget about it...it's true...I suck! I want so badly to be a little like any of these women...
So what am I gonna do about it??? Well, I'm going to pick doable projects, one at a time, and try them...first, I'm going to try the Husband Project, that I saw over at Joyful Mothering. I figure why not...I love my husband and this is a great way to show him and see if things can be a little better. I mean, come on, kids somehow put a kink in things, you get busy with everyday life, and love connections get put on the back burner..so wish me luck!
